The Readyfield Bloodhounds were formed in 1980 by Peter Boddy and his son David.  They were both given and loaned, 10 hounds from the Isle of Man and North Warwickshire Bloodhounds.

The hounds were first hunted by the Boddy family in October 1980 at Readyfield Farm, Caunton. The whips were David Boddy and Annie Arkle with Peter Boddy as amateur huntsman.

The first Masters were Peter Boddy and Jim Beardsley.

This was the first opening meet at Readyfeilds in 1980.

The Masters and Hunt staff wear a brown collared jacket with brass buttons initialled with R.B

Peter Boddy was Master from 1980, until he died in 2001.

In 1985 John Whetton joined the hounds as a runner and still does a lot of the running today with his partner Christine and her daughter Danny.

Most of the hounds names begin with "Ro or De" which stems back from the original hounds loaned in 1980.  The hounds are kennelled at Caunton and the pack consists of approximately 25 couple of black and tan hounds.  The hounds hunt until they are about 7 years old and the hunt breed at least one litter per year to enable us to carry the line forward.  Hounds hunt a clean boot, hunting a man for anywhere between 10 to 15 miles, followed by mounted riders, over a variety of terrain.  The course can include up to 60 fences, of which most are approx. 3' 6"  The country lies in a fifty mile radius of Newark, covering Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Lincolnshire,

The meets take place on either Saturday or Sunday, by invitation of farmers and landowners, working with the co-operation of local hunts and hunting through some country which cannot be accessed by foxhounds.
